Summer Newsletter
It has been a busy time for the crew at Working Lands Conservation- field season is in full swing, new projects are emerging, and we are spending time with people and place.
Meet the Three Creeks Summer Crew!
Jamela, Maggie, and Mercy are out on Three Creeks this summer collecting vegetation and soil data. Under our Project Manager Elana, our team is breezing through field season like seasoned vets. These hardworking folks always show up to work with an amazing attitude and passion for science. We are so lucky to work with them!
Paige is our amazing Riparian GIS and Remote Sensing Technician. She is helping us look at the streams on Three Creeks in a different way- geospatially! With her help, we can see how grazing management can affect riparian areas and streams through time.

Event Highlights
Rich High School Field Day
We had the pleasure of spending the day with folks from GIP, NRCS, BLM, UDWR, and the amazing students from Rich High School to learn about all the different parts of collaborative natural resource management. Through hands-on activities and demonstrations, students learned about grazing management, wildlife habitat, and ecosystem services. Thank you to our partners for attending and Rich High School for participating!
UT SRM Field Tour
Katie traveled down to Moab to visit with UT grazing stakeholders and learn about the unique challenges of grazing management in southern Utah. Highlights include the Dugout Ranch, part of the Canyonlands Research Center, and a visit to the twin buttes of Bears Ears National Monument.
Western Grazing Network- New Mexico and Colorado Field Visits
As the science partner of the Western Grazing Network, our team headed out to New Mexico and Colorado to visit with our team members, local stewards, and learn the landscape to begin designing our sampling campaign. We are working to capture soil carbon changes with different grazing management. We are so excited to get boots on the ground!
Rich County Coordinated Research Management Tour
Three Creeks and the people who live and work there hold a special place in our heart. We spent time visiting with partners and learning about new projects rolling out on this landscape.
