We are partnering with the Utah State University Quinney College of Natural Resources to hire two students looking for full-time summer employment with Working Lands Conservation!
The Project:
As an organization, we study how to balance livestock grazing with other valued ecosystem services on public land, including healthy riparian areas, soil carbon sequestration, and high-quality sage-grouse habitat.
Job Scope:
Field Technicians will work in collaboration with the Project Manager. Duties include, but are not limited to:
Vegetation sampling, identification, & collection
Water quality monitoring
Soil sampling & processing
Qualifications:
Must be currently enrolled in the USU Quinney College of Natural Resources
Excellent communicator, detail-oriented & a team-player
Must be comfortable working in cold to very hot weather, be able to carry up to 10 lbs of gear, and be able to work up to 10 hours / day in these conditions
1 crew member with excellent plant ID skills
Experience collecting rangeland vegetation & soil data (including plant ID) is desired, but not required
Location, Work Schedule & Pay
Positions run from May 19th to August 22nd with two weekends in September
Full-time is 4, 10-hour days / week, 14 weeks total
Most weeks will be spent in the field in Randolph, UT. Housing will be provided at a BLM field station during field work; Technicians provide their own food.
Some weeks will be spent in Logan, UT, processing soil samples. Housing is not provided during in-Logan work weeks.
$18 per hour
